Cemal Deniz Yenigün is a professor and chair at the Department of Industrial Engineering, Istanbul Bilgi University. His main research focus is to employ alternative correlation measures, namely, maximal correlation and distance correlation, in various statistical problems such as independence tests for categorical variables and variable selection in large-scale regression problems. He is also interested in survival analysis and network analysis. Recently he has been working on spatial data and Bayesian change-point detection in hazard functions. He teaches courses in probability, statistics, data science and statistical learning.
Umman Mahir Yıldırım is an assistant professor at the Department of Industrial Engineering, Istanbul Bilgi University. His research mainly focuses on developing metaheuristic approaches hybridized with machine learning for combinatorial optimization problems and for real world applications, including but not limited to transportation and logistics systems, and scheduling problems. He has been providing consultancy services to leading domestic and international companies on data-driven decision making over 15 years.
Doruk Şen is an assistant professor at the Department of Industrial Engineering, Istanbul Bilgi University. His research interests include knowledge discovery; particularly classification and regression with a focus on the development of Machine Learning models with Metaheuristic algorithms -more recently Reinforcement Learning and Natural Language Processing-. His research span various fields including energy, finance and visual arts.
